Google Calendar is one of those tools that seems simple at first, but ends up solving all sorts of problems for non-profits. It's included with Google Workspace for Nonprofits and works beautifully across teams, making it easy to stay on top of meetings, events, and deadlines.

One use we love is turning Calendar into a booking system for shared spaces. For example, we recently helped a non-profit use it to manage room hire for their community space. No more manual bookings, phone calls, or chasing up payments. It streamlined the whole process.

Beyond that, shared calendars are great for scheduling all-staff events, volunteer shifts, board meetings, or public-facing events like workshops and community gatherings. You can create different calendars for different teams or locations, and embed public calendars into your website so the community always knows what's on. It's simple, free, and surprisingly powerful once you start using it fully.
