Heaps Smart recommended

ArcGIS is the industry standard for professional GIS work. While it has a steeper learning curve than simpler mapping tools, it's incredibly powerful for spatial analysis, data management, and creating publication-quality maps. We've used it for conservation mapping, data analysis, and creating maps for reports and presentations. The non-profit discounts make it much more accessible, and Esri provides excellent training resources. If your organisation works with location data, environmental monitoring, or needs to create detailed maps for grants or reports, ArcGIS is worth the investment.
